Luke 16:10 – 12

Highlighting – “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” (v. 10)

Often, we’re asking God to pour an abundance of blessings on us and when our prayers go unanswered, we wonder why. We may forget that God will bless us according to how we handle the blessings He’s already given us. I believe the three verses in today’s text are part of the key to unlocking blessings in our lives. It’s a logical concept and our parents tend to have this mindset. If they have a child who is obedient, takes care of what they’re given or even multiplies it, shares with others, and doesn’t mishandle the gift, that child will likely get more from their parents because they know the child will be wise and show gratitude with what they’re given. On the other hand, the one child in the family that tends to be disobedient, will not receive the same treatment due to their behavior.

Additionally, God tells us to test Him in Malachi 3:10, to bring all the tithes to His house so there is enough of food in His temple and see that He will not open the storehouses of Heaven and pour out blessing that there will not be enough of room to store it (paraphrased). Have you ever experienced financial difficulty when you’re not paying your tithes compared to when you are? When we are faithful to God in small things, He will happily bless us with more, but He wants to see if we will be faithful – no matter what.

Are you seeking something from God and haven’t received it yet? Evaluate yourself and see if you’ve been unfaithful to God in an area of your life. Or were you entrusted with something and mishandled it/was dishonest with it? God sees the intentions of our heart and judges our deeds. He blesses us with the same measure which we bless others (Luke 6:38).

Dear Father, we were blessed to be a blessing. Help me to always bless others with what I have, because with the measure I give, I will receive. I want to be faithful to You in everything. Help me to be wise and use Godly discernment in my decision making so that I may unlock Your blessings in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
