Hebrews 13:5, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (NIV)

This verse is a great reminder that even when you feel alone in life because you don’t have loved ones around, God is always with you. What a great promise to know that He will never leave us or forsake us?! It’s also comforting to know that His messaging speaks to Him continuously sustaining us through it all. He sustains us with spiritual and material provisions. We know this because the author begins with the advice for us to keep ourselves from the love of money and to be happy with what we have. God wants us to not go crazy trying to acquire more money and things because He’s got us…forever.

We should be happy with what God blesses us with because one, He gives us His best (Psalm 84:11), two, as His children we do not lack (Psalm 23:1). Take time out today to show gratitude to God for what He’s blessed you with as opposed to focusing on what you don’t have.

Dear Father, thank You for Your grace and favor towards me when I don’t deserve it. Thank You for sustaining me. Give me a heart of gratitude that always looks towards You and is content with what You’ve blessed me with. Keep my heart from coveting what others have and to find lasting, satisfying, fulfilling joy in the fact that You will never leave me nor forsake me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
