Highlighting – “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (v. 26)
Once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit fills you, and seals you until the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13-14). We are born sinners because of the sin of our first father, Adam. But the shedding of Christ’s blood on the cross covered and wiped away our sins in the sight of God, and He now sees us (believers) as righteous (Romans 4:25). What I love about God is His manner of provision for us. He doesn’t stop at sacrificing His only Son, but He sends His own Spirit to dwell in us and give us the power, conviction of right and wrong, strength, help (and much more) to love Him, obey His commands, equip us to do good works and be victorious over the enemy (1 Corinthians 12:7; Philippians 2:13; Luke 10:19). Our God loves us deeply to the point where He, being a holy God, saw fit to live in mere men that have faith in His Son – what an awesome God?! No other god can ever compare to Him.
Let’s praise Him for how He continues to provide for us in ways that we cannot fathom. Also, let’s praise Him for the blessings He’s given us that we don’t deserve. I’m thinking about the sermon delivered yesterday at my church, by my sister in Christ, God heard the cries of the Israelites when they were enslaved by the Egyptians. He could’ve just taken them out of slavery and left them to make a life in the desert, but no. He is a God of abundance. He not only delivered them from the hands of the Egyptians, but He prepared a new land for them, a land of abundance, flowing with milk and honey. Man, He really does more than we could’ve ever asked or thought (Ephesians 3:20).
Dear Father, thank You for all the ways You’ve provided for me. Who am I that You should even consider me? Help me to be a positive person. Help me to speak life in all situations. Help me to remember that You live inside of me and I have more than I could’ve ever asked You for. Thank You. I don’t say thank You enough. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
