Highlighting – “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;” (.v 27)
Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and calls on us to draw near to Him. When we look over our lives, can we say we are truly a disciple of Christ? A disciple is one who follows Jesus. When you hear the Holy Spirit speaking to you, do you listen? Even further, do you obey?
As I highlight verse 27, I would like for us to reflect on these words to determine if we’re part of His sheepfold. Continue reading into verses 29 -30, and we see the guarantee of salvation that cannot be taken away from us. How beautiful is that? We sinners, reconciled to a Holy God, FOREVER – beginning with faith in Jesus Christ! You know, it’s something amazing, to think that God loves us so much to make such an immense sacrifice for us (Romans 5:8).
If you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ into your heart, choose to do so today. Confess your sins to Him, repent and turn away from them. Express your need for a Savior and believe in Him. For those who have already accepted this saving faith, consider His love for you (Ephesians 3:17-19) and ask yourself if you are heeding His voice. We know our Shepherd will never steer us wrong. Work on developing your relationship with Christ everyday through meditating on the Word and prayer. As each day passes, you will be able to discern His voice and come to a better understanding of His will for you.
Dear God, thank You for Your Son who paid the penalty of death for my sins to give me new life. Help me to realize the privilege in being one of Your sheep and being known by You. Grant me the success in obeying Your voice when You speak. I want to be a true Christ follower. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
