Colossians 3:16, “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” (NIV)

We don’t realize how much discussing the Word of God with our family and friends will develop our relationship and understanding of God, but also, furnish deeper relationships with one another. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”. The dynamic in our relationships is so important, it can either be to our benefit or detriment. In the highlighted verse, Paul encourages all believers to meditate on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and allow that message to be the topic of our conversations, praise and position of our hearts, empowered by the Holy Spirit in us. If we dwell on this Gospel and it occupies our hearts, then we should be grateful to God in response. There is so much blessing in immersing ourselves in the Word of God in solitude, but that much more when we come together as believers. It’s an experience and opportunity that we shouldn’t neglect.

What are our relationships centered on? May Jesus Christ be our daily motivation. Please read Colossians 3, when you have time.

Dear Father, thank You for Jesus Christ. Thank You that we have been given new hope in Him. Please help us to make Him the center of our relationships with one another, and to grow deeper rooted in Him by the power of Your Spirit at work in us. We give You all the glory and honor. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
