Luke 15:11 – 32

Please read the verses on the parable of the prodigal son or (also known as) lost son.

What can we take from this story? That wealth and worldly pleasures won’t last forever. Even people will come and go, but there is one friend who promises to never leave us, Jesus Christ. No greater love has anyone than this, than a friend who will give his or her life for us, that’s Jesus Christ (John 15:13).

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you received three promises:

  1. A relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. (Before that you couldn’t have a relationship with Him.)
  2. You escape the wrath of God, which is eternal damnation to hell. You have power over death and sin.
  3. You will eternally experience glory with Him in Heaven.

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrated His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. This verse means we were a hot mess before God, but He still loved us, to the point of sacrificing His only Son for us – God’s grace. You don’t have to be perfect to approach Him. If you haven’t come to this saving faith yet, I want you to know that God loves you too, but He doesn’t want you to remain the same. He wants you to draw near to Him through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, and to receive the promises I mentioned above.

Some of us say we already accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, but have you? Has your heart been renewed, and mind transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit in you or are you still committing the same sins you used to before believing in Jesus Christ?

If you feel as though you strayed away from God, repent, as the prodigal son and ask the Father to grant you strength to overcome temptation. If you would like to accept Him as your Lord and Savior, please don’t lose this opportunity because it’s not guaranteed that you might get another chance to receive Jesus Christ. God is calling you. Say the following prayer:

Dear God, please forgive me of my sins and help me to turn away from them. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son and He paid the penalty of my sins on the cross. I believe He has resurrected and now sits at Your right hand. I receive Jesus Christ into my heart and confess with my mouth that He is Lord. Thank You for this gift that I could never earn. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
