Genesis 22:1-19

Highlighting – “Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” (v. 2)

God takes joy in knowing that we trust Him in all circumstances. How many of us would be willing to obey God over everything to the point of sacrificing your only son, the promise you waited for all your life? In the highlighted verse, God even went so far as to say, “whom you love”. God knew how much Abraham loved Isaac and wanted to see whether he would give his blessing back to God. We should be like Abraham knowing that His will is better than ours – even when we don’t understand what God is trying to do, we should obey Him. What always gets me is when Isaac asked his father where the lamb is for the burnt offering and Abraham replied, “God will provide”. He didn’t question God’s ability, nor did he moan and groan, He truly believed God would provide for the sacrifice – Abraham reaped the blessing for his obedience. Please meditate on the verses in our text for today, they’re truly edifying and will (hopefully) strengthen your trust in Him.

Faith in God means to not only believe that He’s accomplishing what you don’t yet see, but also that what He’s doing is better than you could’ve ever imagined. Let’s continue to trust in God!

Dear Father, thank You for what You’ve already done in my life and what You’re about to do. I surrender my will to You because what You have in store for me is the best. Please help me to develop my trust in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
