1 John 5:14 – 15

Highlighting – “This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (v. 14)

Positive answers to prayer are the result of praying in alignment with God’s will for us. We all know there are three answers to prayer from God: Yes, No, or Wait. The first answer happens when you ask God for something that He already had in His plans for you. The second answer is because, whatever it is you’re asking for, is not in His will and will likely turnout to be detrimental to your future (remember, God sees further than we do and we must lean on His understanding in these situations, not our own limited understanding). The third answer is usually because God is still in the process of putting the pieces together as far as His will for your life, so He requires that you wait so He can make everything perfect. God will not give us anything too soon or too late, He’s always on time.

I especially love these two verses because it’s not only a promise that we will receive whatever it is that we ask for within God’s will, but also, we know that God hears our prayers. No matter your situation, God hears you and there is much comfort in knowing that our sovereign God delights in listening to us and blessing us. Keep making requests to your Father in Heaven and ask Him to help you accept His will for your life – it’s always best.

Dear Father, thank You for always listening to my prayers. Thank You for being involved in every detail of my life and giving me Your best. Help me to always obey You and accept Your will for my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
