2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (NIV)

When you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you became a new creature. Practically speaking, this means Christ saved you from your former way of living, in order to bring you into a new way of living – in His righteousness. With Christ, the person you used to be died in His death, and now you live in Him through His resurrection (Galatians 2:20). For example, if you were once a perpetual liar, you’ve been cleansed of your sin by the blood of Jesus Christ, and daily move towards not lying anymore through the power of the Holy Spirit working in you (Philippians 2:13). Also, the more we read our Bibles and pray, the more our desires transform into God’s desires and will for us.

In Christ, we obey God even in the small daily tasks. Paul exhorts Christians to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus (Colossians 3:17). At work, even when we’re asked to do a mundane task that we don’t want to do, we do it in the name of the Lord (Ephesians 6:7-8). Always remembering that we are a light in a dark world. If we say we are a new creature, then who we used to be is no more, and we embrace a new attitude and way of thinking (because we now have the mind of Christ, 1 Corinthians 2:14-16).

Dear God, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for me. Thank You for this relationship I have with You through faith in Your Son. Help me to daily walk as a true Christian and to be an example of what it means to be a child of God to those around me. I pray that everyone I encounter experiences Your light shining through me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
