Romans 12:1, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
Everything we do and commit ourselves to is an act of worship. Depending on what that action or commitment is, could be a form of worship to God or the devil. Paul in this text distinguishes what true and proper worship is for a Christian – being living sacrifices that are holy and pleasing to Him. If we dig deeper into the verse, Paul is saying that our bodies are an offering of worship to God when we choose to sacrifice the desires of the flesh to live in His Spirit and for His glory, so we walk, talk, think, in holiness. It’s important to understand that everything we do is a form of worship because worshipping God goes beyond singing hymns and playing an instrument in church. Worship includes, reading the Bible, our attitude and speech to others we encounter, the decisions we make personally and in leadership (that will affect others, 1 Corinthians 10:23 – 31), the places we go, music we listen to, shows we watch, etc.
Evaluate your life and ask yourself if you’ve glorified God in the choices you made this morning, throughout the day. We are a living testimony of the mighty works of God. Lets constantly remind ourselves that what we do and think reflects our Father in Heaven and the Son, whom we claim to believe in. Die to your flesh daily, and fully surrender yourself to the power of the Holy Spirit at work in you. He helps you grow in sanctification, but you must be willing to give Him the room to do so.
Dear Father, thank You for bringing me into right relationship with You through Your Son, Jesus Christ. As Your child, help me to remember that everything I do is a form of worship to You. Please God, help me to live a life set apart for Your works and Your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
This one is a hard one for me. My parents have had issue with me going to movies growing up and I don’t feel theres an issue with the movies. I do agree there are certain places we should avoid as Christians but I also believe we can be the light in darkness.
There is something else I have had several discussions about and that is hair. Is there a worship lifestyle in how we style our hair? I think so, which is why I love it when people are natural. Whats your thoughts on that?
