Highlighting – “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (v. 11)
The first place the devil tries to get a hold of us is through our mind. I read an awesome book some time ago by Joyce Meyer called, Battlefield of the Mind. She explains the devil’s schemes to keep us bound in sin, eventually turning away from God. The enemy plants a seed of doubt, discouragement, hopelessness, etc, with an aim to throw us off track. And if we remain in that way of thinking long enough, before we know it, our habits change and we’ve become a completely different person/falling away from God, without even realizing. We need to use spiritual wisdom and discernment to recognize the attacks of the devil. God is willing to equip us for the spiritual battles we are going to face, and He shows us how to fight in His Word, please read Ephesians 6:10-18. Do you often find yourself fearful of the worst happening? Do you often feel insecure in your ability to succeed? Have you been feeling discouraged lately and lacking trust in God to do the impossible? Do you keep falling for the same temptation time and time again?
If you’re experiencing any of these feelings, it’s likely that the enemy has planted a thought in your mind and you keep feeding that thought, leading to your inability to move forward because it has handicapped you. Rebuke whatever feeling/thought you have and make an intentional effort to think positively, to think in a godly fashion. Ask God to help you grow in godly wisdom and discernment, as you fill your mind with the promises of God in His Word. You already have the victory!
Dear Father, help me to recognize the schemes of the enemy. I declare that whatever has me bound today that I am released in Jesus’ name. My mind belongs to God and I will focus on positive thoughts. I will walk in victory today due to the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross for me. Amen!
