Highlighting – Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (v. 8).
As we start a new chapter in our lives let’s remember to keep guard over our souls because the enemy is working hard to keep us from living righteously and wants to see us all lost, as him. Today, there are so many things distracting us from loving, serving and depending on God wholeheartedly. We need spiritual vigilance. It’s so easy to get comfortable in this world that sometimes we find ourselves compromising our beliefs and falling into temptation – we must not give the devil an open door to destroy our lives (John 10:10). Jesus left us with the Holy Spirit, who dwells in us to give us the strength, wisdom and discernment to combat the enemy. We strengthen the Spirit in us through reading the Word of God and in prayer. It’s so important to stay focused on developing our spiritual lives, please make that your priority. As the world around us falls apart, God will keep us and our families together.
My prayer this year is that I will seek God more in everything that I do. May seeking God be our first response, not last resort.
Dear Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, without Him I wouldn’t be able to live a life pleasing to You. Help me so that I do not quench the Spirit within me. I pray for Godly wisdom and discernment in every decision I make. I need You more every single day. Help me to seek You on my good days as much as I do on my worst days. In Jesus name I pray, amen!
