2 Kings 6:15 – 17

Highlighting – “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (v. 16)

King Aram was sending his army to kill the Prophet Elisha because he kept saving the King of Israel and his army from King Aram’s unsuspecting attacks. Elisha’s servant became fearful – understandably – as a fully equipped army was on their way to kill them. But what he didn’t realize is, they had the BEST army on their side – the army of God.

Oftentimes, we are confronted with issues that immediately cause us to crumble, lose hope, become fearful and we forget we have the all-powerful God on our side. If God could only open our eyes to see what is happening in the spiritual realm (as He did Elisha’s servant), we would not fear the attacks from the enemy because we know, no weapon formed against us shall prosper (whether a spiritual or physical attack, Isaiah 54:17). Even further, these verses remind me that if God is for me, who can be against me (Romans 8:31)? Why does the devil not have any ability to harm me? Because I am a child of God and my eternal salvation is already determined. Even if I were to lose my life, I know that I still have the victory as I sit beside my Father in Heaven (Matthew 10:28). This promise of eternal life is for you too, as a believer in Jesus Christ.

Let’s rejoice constantly for God’s protection. We couldn’t even count the dangers He has kept us from on a daily / second-by-second basis, whether seen or unseen. He is worthy to be praised!

Dear Father, help me to remember to count my days and not take them for granted. Thank You for protecting me from the attacks of the enemy. While I sleep, You keep me. While I engage in my daily activities, Your arms carry me. Who am I that You care so much for me? Help me to always remember that I have no reason to fear because You are on my side. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
