John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (NIV)

Are you seeking to live an abundant life, but can’t seem to find that no matter what direction you turn in? You might just be looking in all the wrong places. God is the only source of an abundant life through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. How do I know this? Because everything on this earth and in heaven was made by Him, for Him and is sustained by Him to reconcile us back to God (Colossians 1:15-20). This abundant life is first, salvation. We often lack fulfillment and satisfaction in this life because we are seeking it from created things as opposed to the Creator, who sustains all things. Jesus Christ came to bring us life so that we may “have it to the full”, that means, He fills the hole in our hearts once we believe in Him – He makes us complete – and we receive eternal life. Today, I want to encourage all my readers with these words, you are complete in Jesus Christ. You have an abundant life in Jesus Christ. Maybe you don’t have all the material possessions you desire, but you have Jesus Christ, who far outweighs anything you could ever buy. Keep your mind, eyes and heart fixed on Him. There is no satisfaction in this world outside of God, so stop chasing the wind. You’re tired, defeated, discouraged and on the verge of giving up because the treasure of your heart is not Jesus. I promise, the moment you choose to change your focus, you will find unexplainable joy in even difficult circumstances.

If you haven’t already, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then surrender to the Holy Spirit working in you to help you grow to have the mind of Christ. God will give you an abundant life, life to the full. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

Dear Father, thank You for the sacrifice and resurrection of Your Son. Through Him I have joy, peace, life, redemption, forgiveness, grace and much more. I am not worthy of this gift. Help me to grow in fullness of joy by the power of Your Holy Spirit at work in me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!
